What's New
What changed in each update of Issue Hierarchy. The newest update is at the top.
Update 2 · October 2026
Admins can now set Issue Hierarchy's working time, and two admin settings that did nothing until now take effect. If you are a Jira admin, please read Access and Admin settings below.
Working time
Global Settings now shows Working Days, Work Start Time, Work End Time and Holidays. The tree's time-in-status columns and their CSV export count with them. Until now these settings were hidden, and the app used the calendar already stored for your site, by default Mon–Fri, 09:00–18:00.
- Holidays count on their own date in every time zone. West of UTC they used to fall on the day before. A holiday on the first or last day of the period now counts.
- Time in status no longer gains or loses a day across a daylight saving change.
Your own working days and hours
Each user can now set their own Working Days, Work Start Time and Work End Time in More > Settings. In that browser they replace the admin's calendar for that user, so later changes in Global Settings don't reach them there. Where the browser keeps no storage for the app, they last only until the page is reloaded.
Access
Global Settings > Access now keeps the users and groups you pick (closing the picker used to empty the list, so Save stored "All"). It also keeps a user or group Jira can no longer find, such as a deleted user or a renamed group, and after "Clear all" the field reads "All". If you restricted access before, please check the setting.
When Access is restricted and Jira doesn't return your user details, Issue Hierarchy asks Jira again. If it still can't check, it shows "Sorry, this app couldn't check your access because Jira didn't return your user details. Please reload the page in a moment." Before, it could tell a person with access that they had none.
A dashboard gadget that isn't set up yet shows the no-access message to people Access leaves out, instead of an error.
The Access picker stays inside the page in a narrow window, so its remove buttons and "Clear all" can be clicked.
Admin settings
"Highlight overdue items" and "Update resolution with status" in Global Settings now take effect. Until now a saved Yes worked as No, and the page showed No. Saving Global Settings no longer resets them.
- Highlight overdue items: the Summary cell of an issue that isn't done and is past its due date turns yellow, and red after more than a day.
- Update resolution with status: when a status change has a Resolution field on its screen, the tree asks for a resolution first. No cancels the status change.
If you had set either to Yes, please check them in Global Settings: after this update, users see the colours and get the question.
Assignee
Clearing Assignee in the tree unassigns the issue where Jira allows unassigned issues. Before, Jira could give the issue the project's default assignee while the tree showed "Unassigned". Where Jira doesn't allow unassigned issues, Jira's message shows and the issue keeps its assignee.
Grouped by Assignee or Reporter, issues with nobody are under "Unassigned" with an empty avatar, not "undefined" with a broken image.
Edits Jira refuses
When Jira refuses an edit in the tree, the message shows Jira's reason, not "{}" or an empty warning. A refused status change puts the cell back, instead of leaving the tree frozen under its loading screen.
Closing the resolution question with Escape or a click outside puts the status back, as No does. If Jira doesn't return its list of resolutions, the tree says so and puts the status back.
The resolution question comes one at a time. A second status change made before the question appears is put back, with a message that asks you to answer the first question.
When Jira doesn't answer
- View worklogs no longer stays empty when one issue's worklogs fail to load. It shows the others, with a warning that the totals may be low.
- When Jira doesn't return one of its lists (projects, issue types, statuses, link types or saved filters), the page asks again, then opens without that list and names it in a warning. Before, a tree could stay empty.
- Big trees and CSV exports no longer lose issues when Jira sends a batch in more than one page. A big tree no longer keeps loading when one request fails; it says how many issues it couldn't load.
- If Jira doesn't return the count of one Summary tab, that tab shows "-" and the others still load.
- Settings say so when Jira doesn't return its list of issue types or fields, and Save stays off, so nothing is saved with that list missing. Before, a Save could lose the Gantt date fields. Save turns on once the settings have loaded.
Browsers that block storage
Links Hierarchy, Epic Hierarchy, both gadgets and the Epic Hierarchy issue tab open again in browsers that block the app's storage. Since update 1 they stayed blank there. Choices you make on these screens then last until the page is reloaded.
Also fixed
- A shared link, saved report or gadget that names a field the tree has no column for, such as a deleted custom field, opens without that column instead of an empty tree.
- The Summary pane works with Components and with fields such as Organizations, and fields with several values are named. Before, the pane stopped.
- Share Link has a Copy button.
- More > Saved Reports says so when your saved reports can't be read, instead of "No Saved Reports". It also has a Close button.
- A new top-level issue you create from the tree appears in it when it matches the tree's search. Before, the tree said it wasn't in your search criteria.
- View worklogs no longer shows "NaN%" or "Undefined" in its time split when the tree has no Assignee or estimate column.
- The "New: Dependency Graph" notice no longer appears in the Links Hierarchy gadget, where a short tree cut it off and it could not be closed. It shows on the Links Hierarchy page.
- Starting a second CSV export before the first file arrived no longer fails.
- The Log Time form asks for a start date and time instead of saving without them.
- The warning that a report covers only the first issues of a big search closes by itself, and only one is on screen at a time.
- If Epic Hierarchy's chart can't load, the chart area says so, and the search and the table keep working.
- Global Settings has a link to this documentation at the bottom.
- The What's New cards open the matching section of this help, and each update card opens its part of this page.
- The tree pages' footer shows the app's current version, plus small text fixes.
- The app's icon in Jira's Apps menu is readable in the dark theme.
- The What's New "Learn more..." link and the tree's column dividers are readable in Jira's dark theme.
- The Gantt pane next to the tree follows Jira's dark theme: no white scrollbar, no white halo around bar titles, no light row lines.
- Trees grouped by Parent work when a parent issue has no priority, as in many team-managed projects, and a done parent is struck through.
- Grouped by Parent or Issue Type, the group of issues with none reads "None", without a broken image, instead of "undefined".
- Group By rows show their own name as a tooltip, not "[object Object]".

Update 1 · October 2026
Issue Hierarchy now comes from Votazz.
New look and working links
Issue Hierarchy has the Votazz logo and icon. Help is on docs.votazz.co, and support is at support@votazz.co. The Documentation, Contact Us and issue-key links open again.
Dates
- Start and Due dates show the same day as in Jira, in every time zone.
- For users whose browser time zone differs from their Jira profile time zone, some Start and Due dates move by one day. They now match Jira.
Gantt
Show Gantt works without saved settings. It uses Jira's Start date and Due date, and asks before a drag changes any dates.
Saved reports
If Jira doesn't answer while you save a report, your other saved reports are no longer erased.
Shared links
Old Share links with Inward or Both open with the right link direction.
Faster big trees
Big trees open faster, and Expand All no longer freezes the page.
Also
- CSV exports escape quotes, so Jira text with quotes no longer breaks the columns.
- The Epic Hierarchy gadget reads its settings again.
- The What's New bell counts only Issue Hierarchy's news.
